Mission: Walking in Godly authentic manhood, loving and serving families, men’s community & job/career readiness
Goals: This is a committed Biblical discipleship, mentoring, & leadership program to invest into young men through mentorship, teaching, community impact, and positive recreational activity. We want to devote a weekly session to these goals through bringing mentor groups together starting at one time per week in the Winter and Summer. Times and days could vary in the future based on each mentor group. Transportation may be provided. We envision engaging the group doing a potential group mental, physical, and spiritual training and/or various activities.
Multi-Year Commitment(8th-12th) in 1 Year Commitment Program Semesters:
Summer Semester: Summers will have 9-10 sessions starting typically during the 2nd week of June(when school is out) and finishing on the 2nd week of August. Seniors are on Thursday’s from 12-5 pm while Juniors are Tuesdays from 5:30 – 8 pm.
Winter Semester: 12 sessions, starting typically in the beginning of January(after holiday break) and finishing towards the last week of March(before spring break). Seniors are on Thursday’s from 3-5 pm while Juniors are Tuesdays from 5:30 – 8 pm.
Spring & Fall: Program break with potential Weekly or Bi-weekly connecting or various 1-on-1 connections and accomplishing goals, and/or potential reconnect fun session during break.
Goals: Basic expectations of commitment:
- Parent Approval: Each participant has parent approval for the weekly time. With the parent approval, the participant rides with us all day and back home every week unless the parent calls us to change the commitment or rides that week.
- Attendance: Commitment is a must in this program! This is a high commitment leadership program. Attendance is a value. We stress attendance because a person who isn’t demonstrating the most important quality of being a leader is when they don’t show up and uphold their commitment. Participants are allowed 1 “unexcused” absence and 1 “excused” absence per semester and can still get full credit for our winter program with 10 completed sessions and for summer program with 8 completed sessions. An “unexcused” absence is an unplanned absence at the last minute without a verification from Mom, Dad, guardian, doctor, coach or camp counselor. An “excused” absence is a planned absence with either a call or note from Mom, Dad, guardian, doctor, coach or camp counselor. If it is a note, we need the number of the person so we can call and verify. Perfect attendance will get a special reward.
- Education Priority: Proficient school attendance, fulfilling expectations and requirements is one of the most important priorities in our programs. A young man’s attitude, behavior, and grades are essential to his future success as a man. World Changers Leadership requires full accountability to fulfill these expectations to be in our program. We want to partner with parents to have a direct relationship with the school to check in with school administration and/or teachers to make sure the young man is on track. If a young man doesn’t attend school the same day of our program, they will not be able to participate that day in our program and be marked absent.
- Cooperation: Participants honor our GRDC leadership by following the lead of our mentors/leaders. Non cooperation is not a value. See accountability policy below.
- Bible Themes: Each week our leaders will have a team huddle based on the Bible Themes. We just want to ask each participant to listen well and challenge them to be engaged and fill out weekly discussion sheets in this book. Our model for our mission is Jesus Christ. Our goal is to strive to love like Him and follow Him.
- Team Shirt: Each participant can receive the opportunity to earn a team rookie shirt after reaching 2 weeks of base goals. We ask them to continue to wear their shirt weekly as a weekly goal.
- Activities and/or Challenges: We will challenge each person to do core activities such group workouts, team activities, etc that we will provide the tracking sheet for them to write their results. Our heart in this goal is to build confidence and teach through challenges while also instilling a sense of getting out of their comfort zone when it is hard at times. This teaches young people they can overcome things and not quit when it gets hard.
Additional Description for Overall Behavior Expectations, Values and Principals
- No gossip tolerated! Our men’s community doesn’t work at all with a breakdown of trust.
- Be professional (avoid profanity, no fighting, wear proper attire(Dream Center T-shirt required)) **This includes your social media. Your first step is to actively clean up your social media and be mindful to properly reflect Christ and World Changers going forward.
- Be a team player (we come to serve, not to be served)
- Take initiative, work hard
- Be respectful
- Put the phone in check (No negative media or getting on your phone during activities & discussions)
- Effective communication (Communicating to leaders on attendance, absence, needs, and/or conflicts)
- Be consistent, be on time
- Take responsibility and be humble
- Attendance is a value(Trust is built from consistency, we have to show up as able when we commit each week)
- Attitude is everything(This program is a privilege if your accepted in, no bad attitudes, but rather an attitude of a “Growth Mindset” which means you are striving towards personal growth)
- Be engaged(showing up is good, but we need participants tuned in and productive as well)
- Romantic Relationships – We don’t encourage this type of relationship in this program for many reasons. Our policy is no dating until 12th grade year and at that time, this individual must be genuinely in this kind of relationship according to God’s standards. So if someone expresses they can’t commit to our policy and have no intention of doing so, this program is not for you.
- Sober Life Style – A patterned life-style of no smoking or vaping any tobacco or marijuana, drinking alcohol, or using drugs.
Accountability: Any mentee who is disciplined for a bad attitude or un-cooperating will be brought aside during the session and respectfully and humbly asked to cooperate. If they persist, we will communicate to them that they aren’t aligning for that day and we will take them home from the program for the day and it will count as loss of attendance. See attendance policy. For a 2nd time discipline, they not only lose an attendance, but they lose the other privileges. For a 3rd time discipline, they are removed from the program for the growth cycle semester and may have to re-apply starting fresh as a rookie level 1.
