About GRDC
In August 2014, Greg and Leah Molchan stepped out with a simple but radical idea: don't wait for people to come to church, go to them. What started as a husband-and-wife calling has grown into the Grand Rapids Dream Center, a movement of volunteers committed to meeting people's spiritual and physical needs right where they live.
Traditional outreach in Christian culture has often relied on a "Come and See" model which is inviting people to attend a church or special event. That approach has its place, and we believe in it. But the Dream Center was built on something different: a "Go and Tell" model, rooted in Mark 16:15 and Matthew 28:19, “Go ‘INTO’ all the world and share the Gospel making disciples of ALL nations.” Rather than asking people to leave their neighborhood to find us, we go to them: physically, geographically, weekly.
"Meeting people where they are" is sometimes used in church culture to mean simple acceptance, come as you are. We believe that, too. But for us it is only half the picture. We don't just accept people in life however they're living. We show up in their actual neighborhood, on their block, in the places they already are. That posture builds a level of trust and comfort that wouldn't be possible any other way, and it's how real, lasting relationships take root.

Why It Works
Three things make this approach work: knowing people, empowering them, and showing up consistently.
First, we get to know individuals, families, and neighborhoods, not from a distance, but up close. Second, once we understand how to truly serve and empower someone, doors open that would not otherwise. And third, consistency builds trust: by committing to be in the same neighborhood every week, people see that we're faithful and that we do what we say we will do.
It is through these three things that people witness the love of Christ in action.
We are grateful for the many strong ministries and churches already serving Grand Rapids well, and it is our heart to partner with them, and with individual volunteers, as we work together toward the same mission.
