Director’s Update:
Hi Friends!
We are definitely in unique times! What is unique to me, is the fact that this is a global impact literally affecting the world. So what does that mean? Basically all humanity is in a position to really look at life and how this is affecting everyday life. Times like this almost always get people thinking about what is most important. Someone asked, “Is this virus from God?” I don’t believe it is from God. But I do know God is sovereign and knows the end from the beginning. He is not disconnected from us, and he isn’t surprised by this. The Bible says, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28) God has allowed this shaking to allow us all into further examination of our hearts and priorities and what He wants for us during this season.
This crisis has definitely provided an opportunity for us with our GRDC mission to be persistent in His purposes for us right now. The last 6 years we have impacted and tracked over 1,500 families through our food and bed assistance outreaches. Every time we have fed a family with food once or more, and/or provided them beds, this is a touch point of love and care! We realized that one of the most valuable things we could do right now is reach out and call each person we have impacted. People are ready to talk! They have the time to talk! It is giving us the opportunity to continue to show the love, the care, and the significance each person we serve has! In addition, our phone call strategy has us offering the good news of Jesus to each person! People are searching for hope, peace and comfort! It is really a hope, peace and comfort that only comes from Jesus! We are seeing such an openness for people to receive the message of Jesus and some people choosing to receive salvation on the spot!
I am also excited to see the persistence of our leadership engaging leaders and disciples weekly with the last 4 weeks with virtual Bible studies and/or phone calls! This on top of ongoing essential assistance food impacts that are impacting 1,000 people with mobile meals plus 120 families getting groceries monthly as well!! The work continues and our heart is to see God’s great commission continuing to be fulfilled one day, one week, and one month at a time!
